最古の道具である石器と現代の必需品であるiPhone や最新の技術である３D プリンターの機能や特徴に焦点を当て、古代と現代の技術と機能的な価値の交換を行った。
石器は人類最古の手の拡張としての道具である。その石器を３D データ化し最新の手の拡張としての道具である３D プリンターで生成した。黒曜石の重厚な質感から、プラスチックの軽い質感になり、石器の有機的な形状をしたオブジェクトをいくつも自動生産することを可能にすること、また、現代の子供が黒曜石から石器を作るワークショップを取材し、石器生成に対する本来の意味とはずれた現状を提示した。
iPhone は電話、インターネット、カメラなど、手や目や脳の拡張としての道具だが、その本来の機能を失わせ、石器と同様の手の拡張に限定しナイフの機能を与えた。
２つの時代のオブジェクトがもつ形体や生成のプロセスを交換することで、道具の機能が拡張され更新されていく現代の、複雑化された道具の需要や価値について考える。
I focused on the functions and characteristics of a stone implement, iPhone, and 3D printer; and I exchanged the values of present technology with ancient technology.
The stone implement, the 3D printer, and the iPhone are all tools that are extensions of the human hand.
I converted the stone implement to 3D data, and I produced a stone implement of plastics with the 3D printer which made it possible to generate several objects of simliar shape but different material.
I visited the workshop which made stone implements. Children were making stone implements.
I realized that the stone implement, in this case, was created in a situation that deviates from the original use and method of production.
The iPhone is a tool that is also an extention of the eyes, and the brain. Because the iPhone has multiple functions of a telephone, Internet, and camera, I gave the function of cutting (the function of the stone implement) to the iPhone.
I thought about exchanging the two time periods to better know the present value of technological extension.

最古の道具である石器は現代ではインターネットという流通されたツールで値段という価値がついたものとして販売されている。 石器よりも後に作られたお金という道具と交換することで、自ら生成せずとも、 石器を手にすることができる。また、石器としての道具の存在は保持はしているものの、 “石器時代” との使用目的が異なり、生きていくための必需品から、コレクションという枠に移行した。
テクノロジーの変遷を綴る著者 K・ケリーは、「地球上から消えてしまったテクノロジー はほとんどない」と記している。 完全に使わなくなった道具に対しても、何らかの価値を見出し、過去の道具としての栄光を賞賛したりする。 時代によって、道具の生かされ方が変わることを石器を例にとって提示した。
We can purchase stone implements on the Internet in the present time.
In fact Stone implements can be exchanged for money that was made after the stone implements. Money is now the most important tool for human beings.
We don't need produce things or make things by ourselves. It means we can purchase anything on the internet.
According to Kevin Kelly ”there is no technology disappeared from the earth”
People will find out the values from each thing, even if don't need to use in their lives.
